Delivery of 2 x ZF W3310 marine gearboxes

Baltic Marine Group has proudly delivered 2 x ZF W3310 NC marine gearboxes for Baltic Workboats. The gearboxes, specially developed by ZF to match our requirements of electric propulsion, are to be used on board of an electro-hybrid passenger ferry currently in build by Baltic Workboats for a Swedish ferry-operator Waxholmsbolaget.

As opposed to traditional diesel engine driven propulsion system the new ferry will be propelled by 2 Danfoss Editron electric motors powered either by a battery bank or a marine diesel genset. The gearboxes are mounted in between electric motors and propeller shafts, hence the need for special design.
